Inside The Matchup: Westchester Knicks vs. Long Island Nets

By Joe Archino | March 14, 2017

Inside the Matchup breaks down every advantage that could lead to a #DubKnicks victory.

Westchester will need a total commitment as it attempts to shed a four-game losing streak against its crosstown rival. The Knicks will finish its five game road trip at the Barclays Center against the Long Island Nets before returning to the County Center this Thursday for a rematch. With a number of injuries to the team, Westchester will need a total commitment from everyone available to suit up. Kevin Capers is playing some of his best basketball of the season during the last three games, scoring in double digits in each of those contests. Capers also recently matched his season high of 21 points in the Knicks last matchup against Maine. Above all else, Capers has been a major defensive force, coming away with seven steals during that span. Injuries are always a hindrance on any team, but through the adversity certain players are able to find renewed strength in their abilities. Kevin Capers is locked in and will be the guiding force to a win.

Keith Wright is another player that has been saving his best stretch of the season for when his team needs it the most. Wright has scored in double-digits during his last four consecutive games. His rebounding ability is something Westchester cannot survive without. The Knicks have only faced Long Island in one previous matchup this season. The Nets were able to deny Westchester a victory back in December, but Keith Wright was still able to shine, coming away with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Certain players can become matchup nightmares for specific teams. With his recent form, there is no question that Wright is tactically suited to deliver another strong performance against the Long Island Nets.

Be on the lookout for these keys to the game as Westchester attempts to get back in the win column against the Long Island Nets at 1:30 p.m. at the Barclays Center.
