Top Team Performances of the 2016-17 Season

By Joe Archino | April 17, 2017

The Westchester Knicks provided plenty of memorable moments during the 2016-17 campaign. As the offseason continues to settle in, we reflect on some of the top team performances from the 2016-17 #DubKnicks season.

Most Team Points in a Game: On December 16, 2016, Westchester put up 132 points as a team in a road victory against the Texas Legends. Of those 132 points, 38 belonged to Chasson Randle. Randle managed to knock down nine of his 11 three-point shots in the matchup. The 132-point marker proved to be an impressive achievement. During the remainder of the season, the closest that the Knicks came to matching or exceeding that total as a team was in an 123-point outing against the Long Island Nets on March 16.

Most Team Rebounds in a Game: The Knicks set its team-high mark for total rebounds in a game early in the season. The date was November 22, 2016, and in its fifth game of the 2016-17 campaign, Westchester hauled down 55 rebounds against the Iowa Energy. Damien Inglis, Keith Wright, and Jaylen Bond grabbed 36 of those 55 rebounds. In that performance, the Knicks were only four rebounds shy of tying the all-time team record of 59 rebounds in a game. The all-time mark came in a road loss to the Los Angeles Defenders during the franchise’s inaugural season on February 25, 2015.

Most Team Assists in a Game: The Windy City Bulls proved to be one of Westchester’s toughest foes this season, but on March 21, 2017, the Knicks dished out 29 assists as a team against this opponent. All nine players who suited up for Westchester had an assist to their name in the matchup. Kevin Capers provided the most with seven, Courtney Fells and Travis Trice II chipped in five apiece, and Jaylen Bond earned four of them. Those players alone accounted for 21 of the team’s 29 total assists. Historically speaking, the Knicks were four assists shy of tying the all-time record of 33 assists as a team. The all-time marker was set on January 8, 2016 in a road victory against the Reno Bighorns.

Most Team Field Goals Made in a Game: Westchester’s peak shooting performance from the field came on March 19, 2017 on the road against the Erie BayHawks. In the victory, the Knicks nailed 34 shots from the field. John Jenkins and New York Knicks assignee Maurice Ndour epitomized the team’s effectiveness, converting a combined 16-of-29 from field goal range. This season’s high mark still didn’t come close to Westchester’s all-time record of 57 field goals made. That achievement was earned on April 3, 2015 in a road loss to the Delaware 87ers.

Most Team Blocked Shots in a Game: On February 2, 2017, the Knicks recorded eight blocked shots against the Raptors 905. Those blocks were earned by four different players, with Courtney Fells leading the pack with three blocks by himself. Westchester was six blocks away from tying the all-time team record of 14 in the loss. That impressive record of 14 blocked shots in a game was set on January 8, 2016 against the Reno Bighorns.

Most Team Steals in a Game: Forcing an opponent into turnovers is always a game-changing ingredient. On four occasions this past season, Westchester walked away with 13 steals as a team. Through each of those performances, the Knicks were just three steals shy of tying the all-time record of 17 assists in a game. That record was set on January 22, 2016 in a home loss to the Raptors 905.
