The Westchester Knicks have played two seasons worth of home games at the Westchester County Center. Season Ticket Member John Perry has not missed a single one of them.
John’s seats are right behind the Knicks bench, which has given him a great view of his favorite players like Ra’Shad James, Jimmer Fredette and Jordon Crawford. It also allows him to have great interactions with other fans in the crowd. John is known to start chants, and spends part of his time “getting the crowd to yell defense,” to show the players support.
John, who became a Knicks fan in 1998 at 15-years-old, has had the opportunity to meet a number of legends such as Allan Houston, New York Liberty players Swin Cash and Teresa Weatherspoon as well as Maddie, the New York Liberty’s mascot! He has also participated in a number of on-court events with the team, including the half court shot.
One of John’s favorite aspects of the games are without a doubt, the Westchester Knicks Dancers, who he always makes sure to get photos with.
Outside of Westchester Knicks games, John spends plenty of time at the County Center whenever the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) comes to town with his favorite wrestler, John Cena. “I have five wrestling championship belts hanging on my wall,” John said. “And I would most want to win the WWE Championship belt.” John also fishes in Mamaroneck whenever he can. His most recent catch was also one of his biggest – a 12-pound bluefish.
As for his outlook on the Westchester Knicks season and playoff hopes John remains positive. “They are going to be great, and I think they can take it all the way,” he said with a smile.
John’s advice to anyone who has never been to a Westchester Knicks game is simple, “Buy tickets and come to the games!”
